MusicMann Promotions are pleased to announce they have added the Fantastic The Trouble With Me to it's roster and will be working closely in developing the very talented Reading based, four piece in the future.

The Trouble With Me are described as, "An exciting band that pioneer a unique blend of angular rock orientated power pop, a thoroughly fresh and welcomed genre mix that can happily not be recognised within an ever growing present landscape of recycled nu-wave indie."

With a decent fan base and a set full of great songs to boot, MusicMann Promotions are looking to expose this great band as much as possible in 2007.

Mr Derry on The Road to V

After a fantastic 2005 Mr Derry from Staffordshire are having an amazing 2006.

The band have wowed audiences at established venues such as The Garage, The Clapham Grand, Manchester Club Academy and Birmingham Bar Academy. Not to mention support slots with Soledad Brothers and Jackson Analogue at Birmingham and Camden Barfly's respectively.

The bands momentum has seen such hype turn into media exposure in the form of BBC Radio WM and Wolverhampton's Beacon Radio plus a host of the midlands newspapers.

And now the band have been shortlisted from 2000 bands as finalists in the Road To V competition. Now the band must take part in a series of gigs at Islington and Liverpool Carling Academies which is being documented for channel 4 and will be aired in June.

will not be playing and have been replaced by

Mr Derry to play London

After successful gigs at Manchester's 'The Late Bar' and High Wycombe's BCSU for John Peel Day Mr Derry are bringing there energetic and exciting 'indie rock and roll with a hint of blues' to the nations capital.

Mr Derry will play at the West One Four on wednesday 2nd November for there debut London show. The band will be on stage at 9.30.

Tickets are avaliable on the door on the night and costs £5 with a flyer/£6 without.

John Peel: What a gig!!

John Peel day took place at BCSU, High Wycombe last Thursday (October 13th) , what a gig!!, what a day!!!

Over 250 people turned up to 'The White Room', old and young to celebrate the life of John Peel. MusicMann Promotions weighed in with five of the best unsigned bands going and we are confident that the great man would have enjoyed every second of these 'new bands'. Tributes came in the way of covers and dedications as well as original sets from Rocketchild, Dariush Rashidi, My Luminaries, The Wutars and Mr Derry.

Rocketchild delivered their usual frantic yet brilliant set capped with The Jams 'Going Underground' whilst Dariush Rashidi kept the heat up with another quality set including 'Beetlebum by blur' before My Luminaries really got the crowd going. The Wutars added to the atmosphere with a short set topped off by 'There is a light that never goes out' by The smiths and by now the crowd would cheer loudly everytime somebody mentioned the word 'Peel'!!!

The bands were great, the crowd were up for it yet nobody had forgotten why we were doing this. The night had surely climaxed after 4 fantastic bands each adding an extra log to the fire and the party in full flow. everybody was already estatic with what hey had alreay seen and heard. The problem was we still had one band yet to take the stage. Surely Mr Derry could not add to this perfect night any further?, surely the crowd had had there fill?. Wrong!!!!

Mr Derry took the stage at 11.30pm and absolutely thrived on the challenge of adding one more to the perfect 10. The band delivered a fantastic set which transfixed the throbbing audience into foot tapping, clapping and adding the 'la la la's' in the right places on the bands demand. This really was not an unsigned band, surely??!!!! Ten out of ten suddenly became eleven out of ten when Mr Derry opened up with 'Teenage Kicks' and then the night really had reached its final peek and we could all look at each other and say John was remembered in the best way possible.

Even more fitting, if one (or more) of these bands gains any exposure from this gig and the wheels really start turning for them who can argue that John Peel is not still exposing 'new' bands and introducing them to the world!.

Something poetic is happening here!!!

John Peel Day Line Up

The very first John Peel Day will take place on Thursday October 13th. The day will be a celebration of John's life and massive contribution to music and broadcasting with as many venues as possible staging gigs across the UK under the banner of Peel Day.

BCSU is hosting a very special gig to celebrate the great man. There will be 3 fantastic sets from Mr Derry, My Luminaries and Rocketchild plus tributes from The Wutars, Dariush Rashidi and The Charlie Parkers with ‘songs for John’.

Mr Derry – Staffordshire

"The amazing 5 piece ripped into the crowd with a truly impressive one hour set, and for their third gig the band oozed confidence. Lead singer Joni Coyne gave the tracks a very 60's feel, her husky voice blended seamlessly into the music with bittersweet perfection. Their style was reminiscent of The Strokes in parts but the fantastic female lead made it their own. The self-penned tracks blended pop with rock and country, without ever slipping to far into one genre."

My Luminaries – London

After a frenetic 2004/5 of extensive live shows (including downstairs at The Highbury Garage, The Clapham Grand, The Carling Islington Academy and The Camden Underworld), airplay on XFM and Radio 1, and selling all 1000 copies of their self-produced debut EP, My Luminaries started 2005 by signing to the prestigious Avalon management group and recording with the legendary Sam Williams (Supergrass/The Mystics/The Animalhouse). With increasing support in the media and an ever increasing fan base, My Luminaries continue to bring that certain repertoire to punters and music scenes alike.

Rocketchild – London

The Rocketchild revolution is falling rapidly upon us. Prepare to be swept away. The powerful and exciting music that Rocketchild create is complemented by the turbo-charged, throat blistering live shows which are becoming notorious around London. The bands sound draws on 2 elements: punk (Clash, Pistols, Ramones, Stooges) and also more classic 70's rock influences like Led Zeppelin and The Who. Front man and catalyst Richie has a self-styled Warhol-esq. 'community' of photographers, film-makers, artists and musicians that are all involved with the concept. His alternative vision has led him to work with such luminaries as Mick Jones (The Clash), Rusty Egan (The Rich Kids), Gordon Raphael (The Strokes) and alongside bands like The Subways, The Libertines, Art Brut, Bloc Party and many more.

Mr Derry Bring Down The House

MusicMann 'Featured Band' Mr Derry recently brought down the house at the Lichfield Rock and Pop Festival. In the afternoon of Saturday 6th of August the 5 piece 'indie rock n roll band' took the stage and delivered yet another fantastic set that ended too soon for all looking on. The set ended with the partisan chant of "Derry!, Derry!, Derry!.........." and a hunt for autographs from the front row.

Mr Derry certainly are on the rise. The fan base is ever growing which became clear to see as many people arrived at The LRAP with one band in mind. Feedback from everyone was once again excitingly positive. A local radio station have demanded Mr Derry's demo to feature the band.

With MusicMann Promotions on board Mr Derry plan to record a brand new professional quality E.P in the coming months and then head down to London to 'wow' the capital!.

Keep looking out for the name Mr Derry and practice your chanting!

Unsigned Band Showcase 2005 returns!

The 'White Room' at BCSU is launching a brand new live music scene (Loaded) on Monday nights for High Wycombe into the next university term and have signed up some very promising bands including Editors, The Modern, Towers of London.

Following on from the success of the 'Unsigned Band Showcase 2005' at BCSU, earlier this year the venue manager has asked MusicMann Promotions to run a fort nightly unsigned band night to tie into this exciting new university music scene.

We have done away with the 'battle of the bands' format, so this time around the nights will simply be 3 bands for the sheer hell of it!!!! However, support slots may be available later in the year.

We now have slots available for unsigned bands who want to play at our 'Unsigned Band showcase' nights.

Charlie Parkers short listed by channel 4!

MusicMann featured band The Charlie Parkers have been shortlisted by Channel 4 for their current showcase competition. The Charlie Parkers were selected by Channel 4 along with 14 other bands for the competition, the prize being a prime slot on the Stylish Riots bill at KOKO in Camden on August 4th playing alongside Art Brut and Yeti.

The Charlie Parkers appeared at MusicMann Promotions Unsigned Band Showcase 2005 at BCSU, High Wycombe on Thursday 5th May.

The slot will go to the band with the most votes on Channel 4's website. The venue holds 1500 people and has featured recent gigs by Coldplay and Roxy Music. MusicMann Promotions would like to add their weight to help drum up as many votes for the band as possible.

Information for featured bands will appear here as well as updates to what MusicMann Promotions are planning: band reviews, latest gig news, up coming gigs, new deals for bands or reviews/mentions on other sites.

What's MusicMann Promotions up to at the moment?

We are currently furthering our 'featured bands' service to include great deals on all the things bands need. We have struck deals with music photographers, printing and promo material companies as well as on line music shops. More to follow and the site will be updated to allow you to enjoy the cheapest promo’s going.

We are also looking to find more venues to offer bands gigs at. MusicMann Promotions has been asked back to continue putting on nights at BCSU, High Wycombe from September onwards and we are also in talks with other managers/promoters.

Mr Derry win Unsigned Band Showcase 2005

Mr Derry from Burntwood, Staffordshire were voted the winners by our panel of industry judges at the Grande Final of The Unsigned Band Showcase 2005 at BCSU, High Wycombe held on 24th May 2005.

On the night the band treated us to an explosion of "indie rock & roll with a hint of blues" with a fantastic 45 minute set of the highest order which included a fantastic acoustic cover of The Kings of Leon’s ‘Bucket’. We all knew what to expect immediately when guitarist Tom strutted onto the stage shouting “are you ready to rock n roll?” The crowd was immediately on the bands wave length and spent the next 45 minutes dancing, tapping feet and clapping along with Mr Derry who were pulling all the strings at a very exciting pace.

When doing the impossible in describing Mr Derry to those who have never experienced the band the best description can be to “imagine a British Kings of Leon fronted by Blondie”. This is not to say that the band are ripping anybody off as I am perfectly happy that Mr Derry have successfully taken in all their influences let them wonder around inside before churning out something that is truly theirs.

We must not dwell on Mr Derry too much because during the course of the final of The Unsigned Band Showcase 2005 we were treated by the sounds of three similarly fantastic bands. Alphino from Southampton, Decoder from Brighton and High Wycombe based The Wutars all made the judge’s final decision almost impossible and everybody who attended agreed that we had all seen 4 fantastic bands that we would pay a lot more than £3 to see again.
